THE ISR TEAM

ISR’s team of more than 450 highly trained Instructors work everyday in an exciting and challenging environment. Working with families in the U.S. and abroad, in countries like Argentina, Chile, Canada and Australia the ISR Instructor is more recognizable now than ever before. By devoting themselves to being the best in their field to teach this life-saving method, our Instructors are a significant step above what is expected of a traditional “swimming lesson.” Each team member quickly becomes a trusted resource within their individual communities representing a passion for water safety and drowning prevention.
The ISR Technique
ISR’s approach to teaching infants and young children to save themselves from a potential drowning situation is the culmination of years of research and carefully collected data. Our method, developed by Harvey Barnett, Ph.D., is backed by more than 40 years of research and development resulting in unique prompts and procedures with application principles and processes that are firmly grounded within the behavioral sciences and early childhood development principles. The technique allows for each lesson to be uniquely tailored to every child’s specific needs and abilities. Through ISR's comprehensive training program Instructors learn and develop the skills necessary to make in-water assessments and curriculum decisions which maximizes efficiency in teaching critical Self-Rescue skills.
