ISR had the pleasure of sharing a booth with the CrossFit Kids Team at the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games on July 29-31, 2011, in Carson, CA. Wow! What an amazing event! This year’s games had twists and surprises, putting athletes of all ages through their paces. Very importantly, the competition was a platform for the spirit of the CrossFit Community to shine through, as shown by athletes who, after completing their grueling WODs, then immediately turned to cheer for and encourage the remaining competitors in their heat.
The ISR-CrossFit Kids booth was a tremendous success! We had the opportunity to meet so many people from the CrossFit Community, who included everybody from Crossfitters who work out of their garages, to Affiliate owners and trainers from across the country. We are excited to start working closely with these individuals to get their communities educated about water safety and the importance of survival swimming lessons!
The ISR Team also had the opportunity to work with the CrossFit Foundation members to raise funds for Fight Gone Bad 6, which will be held on September 17th, 2011. Fight Gone Bad is the annual fundraiser for the CrossFit Foundation, and a portion of this year’s fundraiser will go towards ISR and CrossFit Kids’ goal of making ISR lessons available to those who would otherwise not have access to them. The ISR Team seized the opportunity to help with this great fundraiser by signing up as many CrossFitters for this formidable work out, to be completed in their home gym or at their local Affiliate. We were so excited to have helped to pre-register hundreds of participants, and look forward to doing more to benefit this great event!
In addition, we also had two great ISR families travel to the Games to do in-water demonstrations on Saturday. Sophia, Corinne and Michaela showed their great in-water skills and we are very grateful to their parents for making the trip! All who saw the demonstration were amazed to see what the ISR Program can teach little ones, and were inspired to tell others about the program.
Our thanks go to CrossFit and the CrossFit Kids team for inviting us to be part of such an amazing event. We look forward to joining you again for the 2012 CrossFit Games!
