ISR Review - Pay It Forward Scholarship

The ISR Pay it Forward Scholarship was launched by ISR in 2013 in an effort to make our ISR Program more accessible, and we are thrilled to see the impact of that program from ISR Reviews like this one:

Emmy uses survival skills learned in controversial infant swim classes

The other day my wobbly toddler was playing in the six-inch-deep splash pad section of my community pool while I got things ready to get in. I was keeping an eye on her from deck. She was being super cute so I grabbed my phone to take a picture. I told her to smile for the camera and she lost her footing and fell backwards into the 3-foot water. Before I could set my phone down to jump in and scoop her up she rolled into a float and saved herself.

You should have seen everyone’s face go from fear to amazement! This happened at our community pool so naturally everyone was very curious as to how a 23-month-old could save herself in the water. I enjoy those moments because I then get to share why ISR is so very valuable. I see it this way: The same thing could have happened but could have ended in a completely different way. Each year at the pool I see parents sit outside the pool and let their kids play in the shallow two-foot section of the pool. It would only take me a moment to get distracted by a phone call or a conversation and divert my attention from my weeble-wobble which would then have very grave consequences. Adults are human and distractions happen. However, thanks to ISR my daughter came out unharmed.

Finally, Leo is an amazing ISR instructor. I’ve actually had a few instructors before because we have moved and Leo is by far my favorite. My kids are excited to see him every day. They were never excited about swim class before. Simply put, he has a very gentle and welcoming spirit about him that makes the kids feel safe and at ease in the water.

Sincerely,

Janice D.
