Trevor “Birdie” Davis Water Safety Foundation

Foundation has impacted more than 1,000 families in Metro DC Area

Washington, D.C – The Trevor “Birdie” Davis Water Safety Foundation (www.cbre.com/birdie) announced today that the Fourth Annual “Birdie” Invitational will be held on September 17, 2010, at the Reston National Golf Course in Reston, VA, at 1:00 p.m. EST.

The Trevor “Birdie” Davis Water Safety Foundation was founded in June 2006, as a result of Trevor’s accidental drowning when he was 26 months old. Annually, the Foundation hosts its "Birdie" Invitational in Virginia and has raised over $250,000. All of the proceeds from the golf tournament have gone directly to the Trevor "Birdie" Davis Water Safety Foundation which has brought the safest survival swimming method, Infant Swimming Resource (www.infantswim.com), to the Metro DC Area.

The Foundation partnered with Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) in 2007 as a partner in drowning prevention to help raise awareness for water safety and make Self-Rescue™ swimming lessons available to families in the Metro DC area. Today, because of continued donations and support they have helped bring certified ISR instructors to New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Seattle.

“We are proud to announce the Foundation has trained six individuals to become certified ISR instructors, and to date, more than 1,000 children have been trained in the ISR program thanks to the generous donations from our supporters,” said Amy and Brad Davis, founders of the Trevor ‘Birdie’ Davis Water Safety Foundation. “It is the Foundation's mission is to save innocent lives through education and awareness of water hazards for both children and adults.”
